Educational and Clinical Supervisor for junior doctors and Registrars in York and Scarborough. Mathias is a dedicated trainer and supervisor for Registrars and junior doctors; this includes assessment and feedback to learners with different backgrounds and levels, including diverse learning communities. 

Supervising junior colleagues in a clinical and academic setting, including ward, clinic, and theatre. Involved in WBAs on ISCP (MSF, CBD, CEX, etc.)

Mentoring International Medical Graduates.

Orthopaedic and knee specific teaching for local and regional health care professionals such as GPs and Physiotherapists.

ACL prevention teaching in North Yorkshire.

Mr Nagy qualified as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) 

Mathias holds a Diploma as Member of the Faculty of Surgical Trainers (MFSTEd at RCS Ed), demonstrating his commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning.

Mr Nagy was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from Edge Hill University

Mr Nagy qualified as ATLS Instructor (Adult Trauma Life Support) in 2020. Attended ATLS courses as a member of the faculty.

Mr Nagy qualified as ALS Instructor (Adult Life Support) in 2010.  Attended multiple ALS courses as faculty.

Member of Faculty at the Wrightington FRCS Viva Course since 2020. 

Mathias was invited as a Guest Lecturer on various orthopaedic topics for MCh student at Edge Hill University.

In the past years, Mr Nagy was an OSCE Examiner for medical students at the University of Liverpool and involved in LOCAS Teaching for 4th-year medical students.

Past President-Elect of FORTE: The Federation of Orthopaedic and Trauma Trainees in Europe (FORTE) is a large European organisation. The main goals are the improvement of orthopaedic educational standards, enabling learning opportunities and promotion of colleague’s network throughout our members in Europe. In 2021-2022, Mr Nagy served as President-Elect and a member of the executive committee, instrumental in a variety of projects, including organising educational meetings and travelling fellowships across Europe. 

Past President of the Fiscal Council of FORTE: In 2020, Mathias served as the President of the Fiscal Council of FORTE, which is an independent body ensuring that governance standards are met in this educational organisation.

Mathias was course convenor for suturing courses for junior doctors and medical students at Warrington Hospital. This involved the development of the course, teaching materials and assessment tool.

Jayatilaka ML, As-Sultany M, …, Nagy MT, …, et al.: Collaborative Overview of Corona-Virus Impact on Orthopaedic training in the UK. This was a collaborative study and has been published in ”The Surgeon”, PubMed ID: 33762160.

Mathias is a peer reviewer for BMJ Case Reports and Dove Press. He is Associate Editorial Board Member at the Open Orthopaedic Journal, he reviews and gives constructive feedback to submitted papers.

Mr Nagy was a speaker at numerous national and international meetings in Europa, Asia, Africa, South and North America. He presented on a range of topics, using different presentation styles and adapted to different audiences and cultures.
